The real challenge lies in creating a smart air purifier that automatically changes fan speed to match the surrounding conditions. The Mila Air Purifier succeeds in this endeavor.

With its clever Automagic modes, this air purifier not only responds to how dirty your air is, but it can also adjust to the surrounding area, cleaning differently depending on who is present and whether or not it is time for bed. Additionally, it’s the first air purifier I’ve seen that offers a variety of filters.

Mila Air Purifier: Features

The Mila is jam-packed with useful features and methods for viewing your data, and it breaks down everything from the different types of airborne particles to the ideal temperatures and humidity levels. According to the logic, everything mentioned above improves the air we breathe.

It’s refreshing to have so much information within the app, making it feel more like the purifier is actually doing something, which can be a question with any device designed to work away in the background.

The Mila can be operated manually or automatically. While automatic offers much more customization, manual is self-explanatory and lets you adjust the fan level to your preferences. Both proved useful during testing because auto mode occasionally became quite noisy when it wasn’t supposed to. We were able to get around that issue by switching the app to manual.

There are less expensive options available than the Mila if you simply want an air purifier that you can plug in and leave to do its magic. It’s strange to criticize something with too many features, but it can sometimes feel like you’re battling the air when you just want to relax at home.

Sleep mode and “Bubble Boy” mode also affect how the fan operates; the latter is intended to override other noise settings to get the air quality down to 0.0 (meaning your air is clean as a whistle) regardless of what; we advise tinkering with these until you’re satisfied.

Mila Air Purifier: Design

The Mila air purifier’s aesthetic appeal is possibly its strongest point, and it is obvious that both the actual device and its accompanying app have received a great deal of thought and attention. Going a long way is the general impression that the company has considered how the Mila might appear in someone’s space and as a component of someone’s day.

The boxy shape of the purifier (which is somewhat offset by the wooden legs) takes up more room than is necessary and makes it challenging to find a suitable location for it to live. We wish it were a little bit smaller. That’s a minor problem, though, and there are undoubtedly bigger purifiers available that don’t appear to be as effective.

Mila Air Purifier: Performance

• Can be slow to ramp up fan speeds

• Very quiet on lower fan speeds

I put the air purifier through my usual battery of tests in order to evaluate it. I started by measuring sound at minimum and maximum fan speeds from a distance of 1 m. The fan’s minimum sound level was 37.9 dB, while its maximum was 62.3 dB, which is comparable to a normal conversation. Therefore, even though the fan is loudest, it isn’t overly disruptive.

The Overreactor filter was then used to test cleaning effectiveness. I timed how long it took for my Nest Protect to detect a clean environment after lighting a smoke capsule, which burns for 60 seconds.

The Mila Air Purifier gradually increases fan speed, so it can take some time to reach maximum, I first observed. You can reach maximum purification much faster with a Dyson air purifier.

Slowly increasing fan speed will reduce noise, but the air will take longer to clean. Even so, my Nest Protect indicated that the event ended in 10 minutes and 39 seconds, even though the fan kept running to completely purge the air.

After having a bad experience with Molekule (which wouldn’t connect to the app), I tried the Mila because I have allergies and a long-haired dog. This machine is incredible, so it was actually a blessing in disguise!

For the first time in a very long time, I woke up and could breathe clearly. I had just purchased another Mila a few days earlier for our bedroom. I wasn’t drenched in perspiration either.

I set this one up in our family room, which is a part of the main floor of a two-story building with an open concept. In the adjacent room, I was painting my daughters’ nails when I heard the Mila kick hard. So, when I opened the app, I was surprised to see that it had detected the scent of nail polish coming from a nearby room (see pictures). My husband himself found it hard to believe.

Even though it’s a little bigger than I had anticipated, it’s still attractive. So far, so great!

A week prior to the start of the heating season with our gas boiler, we installed this unit. The air purifier is on the second floor, while the boiler is in the basement. The air purifier started detecting carbon monoxide an hour later. The carbon monoxide level continued to increase. We turned off the boiler when the carbon monoxide level reached 150 PPM, and it took only 10 minutes for the level to almost disappear. Using this information, we were able to schedule a boiler service visit from our HVAC company.

This top-notch, fashionable, and dependable air purifier comes highly recommended. For our kitchen and family room, we bought the Critter Cuddler. • Wyksays “An expensive fan with weak air filteration“

The most expensive filters are now in my two units after I previously owned the more affordable ones. I’m a resident of Central Oregon. Yes, the fan starts when it detects something, but it filters poorly and it is dusty here. Simply put, it isn’t powerful enough. I’ve used a Molekule before, and I now own two pricey Air Oasis units. (I spent over $1,200 on the Milas before the Air Oasis units in the hopes that they would perform admirably.

These are operating in some rooms, while Mila units are in others. After three to four months, the Mila filters are still very clean, while the Air Oasis filters are very dirty. The air pull is much stronger, and they require replacement much sooner. Inside the units, the air smells cleaner.

The Mila units are attractive, but I regret my purchase. I advise spending more money on a more expensive option with superior job filtering.

Being Lyme, my auto-immune system is compromised. My health regimen depends on effective air filtration.

The air purifier does a good job of filtering the air, but not much else. I bought this as a less expensive replacement for the Dyson air purifier I’ve had in another room for a while. Technically, The Mila has been a huge disappointment. Despite being right next to the Wi-Fi router, it loses the internet connection frequently, requiring a restart. Every once in a while, it will display a cute message on the screen that basically says something has gone horribly wrong and I need to restart it. The system still behaves horribly buggy despite the fact that I have the most recent firmware and have taken all the necessary steps. Compare that to my Dyson, which I have never had a problem with. I’m not joking when I say that if I fart in the room, the Dyson always automatically turns on and begins cleaning the air. The iOS software is simple and fantastic. I consider the Mila to have been a huge financial mistake, and I’m going to just buy another Dyson instead because it works so well and has a great app.
